Whirlwind!

Sitting on the couch after a long few days of friends, family and LOTS of food. It was the best Christmas my family has ever had! I am needing to detox after so many carbs and sweets!  We created so many new memories...so great!  My husband and I decided since we just married 3 months ago not to get gifts for each other. It was a great idea although he was so paranoid I had a surprise gift (I so did not!) My mom and stepdad got me a sewing machine! I "learned" to sew over Thanksgiving so I am really excited to give it a try. Here's to making lots of things in the new year!

Side note: My mother is amazing. We are very close and always have been. She knows me better than I know myself at times! She lives about 3 hours away from me and when we are together I cherish our time so much more than when she lived here. It is so hard to be that far away at times but thank goodness for great technology! I hope to be just half of the mother she has been to me. She is such a great woman. Just pure amazingness.

Sunday Love

Reasons why I love Sundays:

-going to church (on the days I play hooky, like today, we watch Joel Osteen...what what)
-another day to sip coffee slowly instead of downing it in a travel mug on the way to school
-usually a big home-cooked meal is on the menu for lunch
-I get to water my thirsty house plants
-spending some QT with the husband and our sweet dog Banks
-usually a nice long phone conversation with my mom
-couching it up with my book of the moment
-trying to soak up every last minute of the weekend I can before beginning another week in this crazy thing we call life

Each day is a precious gift but Sundays are my second favorite day of the week. The first is Friday. Maybe because I was born on a Friday? Either way, enjoy your Sunday!

Secret Pals

A small thing that made my day: getting a gift from my Secret Pal at school. A goodie bag which included coffee and a super cute snowflake mug.  I came home and made a cup (delicious cafe mocha!), kicked up my heels and played on pinterest for a while. Perfect evening. It is always so nice to feel appreciated and loved, even if by a total stranger (we find out in May who the secret pal is!)

Loving that tomorrow is the last day for kids and I will have a 2 week break to celebrate with friends and family!

Trees Full of Love

I was listening to the radio this morning when a lady was discussing how bare and ugly the trees look in winter. She said she started looking at the trees and noticed birds nests scattered throughout. She said she realized at that moment that the ugly trees actually housed secrets of families and love. She loves how the trees look in winter now.
I thought, "What a great way to look at things!" Sometimes we dwell on the negative and don't see the positive. I will try to remember this when I look up at the trees this winter.

The Beginning of Something Great!

Here lately I find myself reading blog after blog. I have learned how to become more organized, more fashionable (I think!) and how to cook some amazing dishes. I wanted to start my own in the hopes of sharing fun ideas and inspiring others the way I have been inspired. So, I finally started my own blog. Here's to trying something new in life!
