I am going to be an aunt! My brother and sister-in-law are having a baby in July. I am so excited to spoil this little one!  So many people I know are starting families. While this is super exciting, it makes me wonder when it will be our time.  My husband and I want to have some "us" time and travel or do whatever makes up happy. We already have a few trips lined up this year!

I love Pinterest! Just wanted to express that! If you are not a member, you have to check it out.

My husband is singing Alanis Morisette "You Live, You Learn" at the tops of his lungs right now (there is no music, just in his head I suppose). It is not pretty. If he ever reads this blog he will kill me. Oh well.

Side Note: Many minutes of my days are spent praying and thanking the Lord. This has not always been the case in my crazy life, but things have changed. I am still trying to find balance in my life but I know that I am on the right track. I am not one to discuss my relationship with God but I have a yearning to do so now. Without Him, I am nothing! All things are possible through Him! He is the way and the light! God is working on me constantly and I am finally allowing him to seep down into my heart and soul. It is the MOST wonderful feeling!

A Teacher Thought

First week back at school since 2011 proved to be exciting, stressful and fun!  My students were so tired and exhausted from the holidays, as was I.

Our school system offers free swimming lessons at the local YMCA for ALL 2nd graders. It is an amazing idea and each semester students learn to swim.  We actually take these lessons twice a week during school so our instructional time is seriously interrupted. Not complaining, just stating  : )  We started lessons this past week and I just have something to share.

(Not really my students, just a cute picture!)

I am not a mother (yet!) but I just love kids.  I like that my students need me at times during the day. I feel that my purpose in life is to teach and nurture children, whether my own or others. Ok, anyway. After swimming in a pool for 45 minutes, you can imagine how tired and hungry these babies are? Also, can you imagine trying to get 9 girls dressed, dried and combed? It takes a while. I tote an extra hairdryer to zap those wet locks. I love that my little girls come to me needing my hairdryer and my help. They trust me to style their hair.  I have students who want their hair to look like how mine is styled. So sweet!

This past week just proved to me once again how much students look up to us and trust as teachers and adults. They are seriously influenced by their surroundings and it is very important that I hold myself in a positive light.  I hope to continue to have these "lightbulbs" go off in my head as often as they can. It is nice to be able to sit back and reflect on the week.

Maybe this will start as a Sunday blog? I am not sure. It is not really as inspirational as I had originally thought. A little tweak here and there may be what I need. We will see. Thanks for reading!

xoxo, Kellie
